uShaka Aquarium

 uShaka Sea World Aquarium is part of the uShaka Marine World complex in Durban. It is the 5th largest aquarium in the World and features a wide range of exhibits showcasing marine life from different habitats. We love watching the colorful fish as they drift along it’s so mesmerizing. Its a top Durban attraction and we suggest you check it out. 

Their exhibits include tanks with various species of sharks like the ragged-tooth sharks, blacktip sharks and sand tiger sharks. If you’re the adventurous type, there’s an underwater shark tunnel where visitors can walk through while surrounded by sharks, scary and thrilling at the same time. It’s a wonderful experience and we can spend hours just watching the remarkable marine ecosystem it holds in their graceful elegance.

uShaka Sea World Aquarium is also known for its dolphin shows, where you get to watch these intelligent marine mammals perform acrobatic feats. There’s also the penguin rock. uShaka is a home to over 63 African penguins and this exhibit recreates a beautiful rocky South African shoreline habitat for these charismatic birds. 

We love to watch the playful seals in their specially designed pool area, they are so much fun. There’s a Ray pool which exhibits a species of rays including Stingrays providing an opportunity for you to interact with these gentle creatures. Not forgetting the colorful display of coral reefs and tropical fish, showcasing the beauty and diversity of South African coral reef ecosystems. We love the colors and the beauty of these exhibits. It’s both breathtaking and hypnotic.
