Of course the  highlights of Waxy O’Connors is its impressive selection of drinks. Made with freshly brewed coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar, and topped with a dollop of whipped cream, it’s the perfect pick-me-up any time of day. Well that’s our excuse to have one anyway.

Of course, no visit to Waxy O’Connors would be complete without sampling some of their delicious food. From the starters we recommend the Belfast Mussel Pot, with its deliciously creamy garlic and white wine sauce. It’s heavenly!

Their main menu is packed with hearty Irish classics with a fusion of SA specials and a few Mexican dishes thrown in for the Durban Vibe cuisine fusion that flows through the city. We love their Dublin fish and chips, and the tasty Gourmet Bangers and Mash, If we’re out with with friends we will go for one of their Seafood, Meat or South African special sharing platters. Very homestyle and absolutely delicious. Another tip, be sure to try the pub’s famous homemade pies, served piping hot with a side of crispy fries. They are a rich and flavorful taste of the traditional Irish heritage where they have emerged from.

In addition to its great food and drink, Waxy O’Connors also hosts regular live music nights, featuring some of Durban’s best local talent.
